Infra Red differs from conventional film in it's sensitivity to a wider range of light across the spectrum. Visually the different effects can be quite dramatic. The sky becomes black and the chlorophyll in foliage appears white, whereas skin takes on an alabaster and transparent look. These characteristics, along with the grainy texture of the film, can create an ethereal, even spiritual, mood.
